We caught up with presenter and influencer ΛNNΛBEL (@annabelstopit) and asked her to make a playlist of her choice for our store! See below for our Q&A with the mega babe, listen to her playlist and find out why now after visiting ATIKA she'll definitely be shopping vintage.

Hey Annabel, tell us a little about how you got started?

I originally moved to London to work on my own music, but when it came to submitting a final project for uni, I wasn’t ready to release anything. So instead I launched my own blog where I interviewed other artists about their journey in the industry and it ended up doing quite well. I was lucky enough to get a place on a mentorship programme with Sian Anderson and Julie Adenuga and a few months later, I landed my own radio show - and I’m loving it! But who knows? Maybe one day I’ll drop an album.

What was the last song you listened to?

Get Right Witcha - Migos

If you weren’t a presenter/influencer, what would you be doing?

I’d be a rapper with dreads and gold teeth and I’d probably have no fans.

What made you choose the songs on your playlist for us?

It’s everything I wanna hear while I’m shopping - fresh UK tunes, classic hip-hop joints and a dash of pop. People will be skanking in the changing rooms.

Who are your top 5 influences in life/art/music etc?

I stumble across new inspiration every single day but five people who consistently get me out of bed in the morning (not physically) are Yes Julz, Maya Jama, Julie Adenuga, Caroline SM & Young Thug.

Do you usually shop vintage?

I feel like it’s a whole world I knew nothing about - but now Blitz has shown me the ropes, I’m addicted.

Tell us a childhood secret?

I used to wear matching silk gloves with all of my outfits because I thought I was Lady GaGa… actually, that was quite recently.

Meet our ATIKA babe Chloe.  We got her to pick an outfit from our store and here's what she chose!

So how long have you been working at ATIKA?

Around 3 months, well I think - I started when I first moved to London in January.

What’s your job role at ATIKA?

Part of the sales team which also includes flyering - cash me on the corner, how bah dah

What made you choose this piece?

I liked this Remix By ATIKA shirt dress because I feel as though it’s a nice laid back and easy piece to throw on with not much else required - especially for going to the park with friends in the summer!

Who or what currently inspires you and your style?

Admittedly, I am pretty unadventurous with how I dress - it’s usually just black, white or grey. However, I do like Jane Birkin’s style - the white shirts and blue jeans.

Fave pair of kicks right now?

Black chunky heeled boots! Pretty much the shoes I live in.

What’s the best thing about shopping vintage?

Finding pieces that are original that you know no one else is likely to own.

Fave thing about working at ATIKA?

Definitely the people!

How did you both get started?

Well, we've been on social media from the age of about 15 and weren't really taking it seriously at all - we just uploaded selfies from our iPod Touch and played around with Instagram filters haha! but once we decided that we wanted fashion to be our vocation, we started using Instagram as a platform to display what interested us, and what we wanted to represent. At this point we merged our Instagram to a shared space  for the both of us to upload outfit pics and all the rest of it - before then we had our own separate accounts but it was futile because we literally posted the same kind of things.

How identical are you in terms of looks/personality/interests etc?

We grew up being dressed by our mother, so we wore identical outfits, but with different colours so she was able to tell the difference! The time we started spotting our differences was when we moved out years later, and stayed in separate bedrooms for the first time. The majority of our interests are the same, but circumstances make us experience different things, e.g. working in different stores to each other, going to different places on our own (which is really new to us because we usually go everywhere together!) But mainly we enjoy doing the same things - we are very close! But we definitely are our own person and we are slowly finding our own personalities.

Who's the older twin?

Victoria is the older twin! A lot of people usually confuse Jennifer for being the oldest because she's a bit bigger and is a bit taller (by 1 inch) but in Nigerian culture the younger twin usually looks older (confusing af right?).

Were you ever dressed the same when you were younger?

We looked VERY identical when we were younger, so to avoid confusing our primary school teachers our mum would give Jenn the pink scrunchie and Vicky the purple! But we would generally wear the same things, just with different colours. Cute!!!

Do you encourage each other to dress differently now?

The only reason we'd ever encourage each other to dress differently is so we can borrow each other's outfits for work or any other occasion when we're not together haha! But generally, we do dress quite alike in terms of style - we're not particularly the most 'girly-girls' either so the silhouettes tend to be oversized.

What are your favourite things about vintage shopping?

I just love how you can transport yourself into a different decade through what you wear. It fascinates us a lot! The styles can also be super super rare, so when your friends ask you where you got your clothes from you know they'll never ever find it. (;

What was the last song you listened to?

Vicky - The Lung - Hiatus Kaiyote

Jenn - Walking on The Moon - The Police

Tell us a childhood secret.

WE ADMIT IT!! We tricked our teachers and swapped classes in yr 5, ok!!! (Vicky's teacher made us do it!)

Who are your top 5 influencers in life/art/music/fashion etc?

It's hard to put it down to just 5 because our influences are so eclectic, but in terms of art, Jean-Michel Basquiat is a huge influencer to the way I think about black people or (POC) in the creative industries. In terms of modern - day social media influencers, I would say @yagazieemezie (photographer), @tony_gum (artist), and for music at the moment it would be @saintrecords (Solange) and an old but incredibly important classic (since we are Nigerian!!) Fela Kuti.

ATIKA Introduces: Yinka Bokinni by ATIKA London

We recently hung out with mega babe and Capital Xtra DJ Yinka Bokinni! See below for our mini shoot using new pieces from Remix By Atika Party and why she chose the songs she did for her playlist in our store.

Questions, questions, questions.

How did you get started?

When I graduated from Uni I realised I didn't want to be a lawyer (lol), so I auditioned for a show at RinseFM and the rest is history I guess! I started the blog as a hobbie and now it has a life of it's own.

What was the last song you listened to?

Shakka - Pain (Promise me).

To be fair, I listen to the Lost Boys EP every single Day!!!

If you weren't a DJ, what would you be doing?

Anything but law (haha). Honestly I don't know, I genuinely love my job so it's hard to think of anything else I would do. Hmmmm maybe a teacher? Kids kinda like me!

What made you choose the songs on your playlist for us?

I wanted the perfect mix of old classics and new bangers. I don't think listening to music should be a chore so I have picked songs that I find easy to listen to.

Who are your top 5 influences in life/art/music etc?

David Attenborough, Louis Theroux, Annie Mac, Beyonce (obviously she is a MACHINE) and The Queen. (She is sooooo sassy).

Whats your favourite thing about vintage shopping?

The fact that you never know what you're going to get. It's easy to go to High street and pick the same thing that everyone else has, but it's another to actually get stuck in and decide on your style.

Tell us a childhood secret?

I was the kid who ate mud and worms and ants. (Don't tell anyone).
