Concessions Deep Dive: Cupids
Written by Ella
At ATIKA, our concession departments are an essential part of what makes the store unique. Carefully handpicked and thoughtfully merchandised, each brand brings its own attitude while complementing our wider vision of curated vintage fashion.
In our latest blog post series we will be introducing some of the faces and voices behind these concessions, sharing their inspirations and showcasing their collections. Kicking off the series we have Ella, behind Cupids, our playful whimsical Y2K edit. Find Cupids on the ground floor in our main room.
Q: How did Cupids start?
A: Cupids started because I had way too many clothes after spending over 15 years working in vintage stores. I began selling pieces from my own wardrobe, then started buying and selling for friends—and things snowballed pretty quickly from there.
Q: What’s your vintage holy grail?
A: I’m a bit of a hoarder and can become mildly obsessional when I’m searching for something specific. I’m lucky to own several of my holy-grail vintage pieces, including a strong selection of 90s Jean Paul Gaultier. I have an especially great edit of the iconic all-over print mesh tops and tailored sailor pieces. I’ve been holding onto them for a while now, even though they no longer fit me (sob), so watch this space — I may finally be ready to let them go.
Q: What pieces are you loving from your latest selection?
A: I’m falling head-over-heels for vintage Y2K boots. I’m drawn to their distinctive silhouettes - the chunky soles and bold shapes which make them a statement piece, while the vintage aspect adds character and authenticity.
Q: Can you show us a sneak peek on what’s to come for Cupids?
A: Sure! This week’s edit is focused on lots of goodies hitting the floor featuring floaty maxi skirts, all over print mesh tops, balletcore vest tops and structured military jackets—pieces that blend creative silhouettes with a cheeky ironic y2k nostalgia!
